York Greenways is a local community organisation dedicated to maintaining and enhancing the Greenways in and around York. We are a wholly voluntary-run group. Our strengths are our local knowledge and local focus.

We focus our activities on those parts of the greenway network that are neglected or overlooked, or have unrealised potential. We are able to offer support to similar grouips in other parts of the city.

York Greenways works with landowners and communities along the Greenways, to help keep the paths safe and accessible. We cooperate with other environmental groups topromote biodiversity.

Our ongoing core activities require tools, PPE, transport, seeds & plants, insurance and web-site hosting. These are mainly funded by grants from York City Council's City Wide Ward Fund. For individual projects we seek grants from a variety of charitable organisations and these also contribute to core costs.

York Greenways is managed by a voluntary committee with a small number of regular volunteers. Our numbers are supplemented by partnerships with organisations with compatible aims - in particular York Cares,  Good Gym and St Nicks Environmental Resource Centre.

We have a mailing list for anyone interested in our activities and a WhatsApp group for those more actively engaged. Activities are advertised on our Facebook page.
